This was a small experiment to test out the axiom solver for pyrotechnics in Houdini, I wanted to recreate the scene from Dune (2021) of the Harkonnen Ship attacking the city of Arrakeen.
27 Missiles and 6 Explosion sims were used and instanced accordingly to create the final shot
Took about 3 days to render on Karma CPU using my 5950x
I hope to switch back to nvidia so I can retry this with Karma XPU down the road
Over the summer of 2022 I was able to take a few courses from Rebelway, practice makes perfect and brushing up on some of my original vfx learnings is never a bad thing. This particular course was focused on more advanced vfx taught by Hunter Williams. A few images on the right with some of my results from the 10 week course as well some preliminary assignments.

At the start of 2020 I joined Retro Studios as a lead visual effects artist. The project would later be revealed to be Metroid Prime : Remastered, I was tasked with revamping the Visual Effects team and evaluate the proprietary engines tool set regarding visual effects and help improve and drive initiatives to better the artist toolkit.

Towards the fall of 2018 I rejoined Electronic Arts (DICE LA) as a Senior Visual Effects Artist to work on Battlefield V on the Panzerstorm Map “Hannut”
I was tasked with the levels world environment VFX, working closely with the Art Director and Lighting Director to achieve the direction provided by the amazing concept art team.

Towards the beginning of 2018, I had accepted an offer to join a secret project at Blizzard that was attempting to explore the FPS genre using existing the Starcraft IP, unfortunately the downside of game development means we can’t always get what we want, shortly after the project was cancelled and its exist was revealed by the President of Blizzard Allen Brack.
I had a lot of fun creating VFX for the project , unfortunately it will never be seen.

In the height of the Star Wars craze, after Hardline , Visceral was tasked to work together with award winning Uncharted writer Amy Hennig and create her vision of a Star Wars 3rd Person Action Adventure.
I worked closely with my lead at the time (Seth Hall) to create movie accurate Visual Effects for the project. Lots of research and development occurred to achieve the highest fidelity VFX at the time.
Unfortunately, just because its Star Wars it does not mean its invulnerable, Visceral Games was closed down in late 2017 by EA and the project with it.

After the release of Hardline, work on Premium content soon commenced.
Tasked with Levolution and additional FX, I helped bring content to life over the course of a year.

Towards the beginning of 2013 I joined Electronic Arts as a Visual Effects Artist to work on the next Battlefield Franchise installment, Battlefield Hardline.
I was tasked with various VFX aspects of the game, from In-game cinematics to asset VFX and In-game scripting through schematics.
Learning frostbite has been a blast despite its somewhat difficult learning curve.
During my time at Logan.tv I had the pleasure to work with fellow artists on the 'The Pledge' Trailer for The Order 1886. I was tasked on creating a Rigid Body simulation on the opening shot, assisted the FX Lead Alvaro Segura on the crystallization shots and finally, developed a method for an Ink smear effect on the final newspaper shot.
